Gutter guards in Manchester, CT

Manchester houses skew old, so we check the gutters first and price the guard per foot on the call.

From $18/ft installed · Gutter Clean Pro

Call (617) 401-9301Answered any hour · no in-home sales pitch

StormRail prices and installs Alu-Rex gutter guards in Manchester and the towns around it. Gutter Clean Pro fits over sound gutters from $18/ft; new gutters with T-Rex start at $25/ft. Call any hour and you get the number on that call. A certified installer fits the job from the same written plan you signed off on.

About one in three Manchester housing units was built before 1950. On a house that age, the first question is whether the gutters can carry a guard at all, and we answer it on the phone.

Keep the gutters or replace them: the Manchester price list

Every price here is per foot of gutter, installed, and it comes from one published list. Which system you need depends on the gutter you have now. If the run hangs straight, drains to its outlets and has no leaking seams, Gutter Clean Pro sits on top of it for $18 a foot on 5-inch gutter or $20 on 6-inch. It is a two-layer aluminum cover, so it stops fine grit as well as leaves.

If the gutter is bowed, split at a corner or pulling off the fascia board, a cover will not save it. You need new gutter, and the guard goes in with it. T-Rex is a continuous aluminum hanger with a perforated top that holds the gutter along its full length. New 5-inch gutter with T-Rex is $25 a foot and 6-inch is $29. DoublePro puts a second filter layer under the first, for roofs that collect needles and seed pods, at $30 and $34.

Downspouts are billed on their own line at $14 a foot for a 5-inch system or $16 for 6-inch. Old gutter comes down for $1 a foot when a run is replaced. On a tall older house the downspout footage adds up, so you see it written out instead of folded into the gutter rate.

Matching the house to the system takes a few questions. A lower house with sound gutters and ordinary leaf fall is the Gutter Clean Pro case. A two-story house with sagging runs is a T-Rex conversation. If you pull needles out of the gutter when you clean it, tell us, because that points to DoublePro. The full price list is public, and your quote matches it line for line.

Manchester houses, leaves and storm drains

The census puts the median Manchester home at 1962, which is old for the region. About one in three housing units (9,074 of 26,724) was built before 1950, and 5,572 date from 1939 or earlier. On a house that old we assume nothing about the gutters. They may be a recent replacement or they may be worn out, and the answer decides whether you pay the retrofit rate or the new-gutter rate. A photo of the worst corner helps.

The Cheney Brothers Historic District is a National Historic Landmark of about 175 acres: the former Cheney silk mills, workers' houses, churches, schools and family mansions, in Late Victorian and revival styles. The town has a commission devoted to that district. If your house sits inside it, ask the commission before any exterior work, and we will plan the job around its answer.

Tree canopy covers about 42.6% of Manchester's urban area, according to the American Forests Tree Equity Score. The town takes the leaves free: year round at the Transfer Station with a Recycling Permit Card, and until dusk at the Olcott Street site from October 11 to December 31. A guard leaves that routine on the ground as it is. It means fewer of those leaves end up packed into the gutter.

On September 25, 2026, the town issued a nor'easter advisory warning of heavy precipitation and gusty winds, and asked residents to clear leaves and trash from storm drains near their property. Your gutters face the same test on a smaller scale. Most guards cope fine with a drizzle. Trouble starts in a downpour, when leaves are down and a short run has to move a lot of water at once.

Building permits in Manchester go through the Building Inspection Division's online portal, one permit type at a time, and the town warns that a staffing shortage may stretch processing and inspection times. Its page says nothing about gutters either way. If you are unsure, check with the division and build the wait into your schedule.

What is a reasonable price for gutter guards in Manchester?

A reasonable price is one you can check against a published rate. Ours is per foot, installed: $18 for Gutter Clean Pro over existing 5-inch gutter, $25 for new gutter with T-Rex, and $30 for new gutter with DoublePro. Downspout and removal are separate lines, so none of it hides inside the headline number.

Your total is that rate times your footage. We measure the roofline remotely, count the stories and ask about the trees, then read you the figure on the call. Nobody needs a seat at your kitchen table to get there. When you compare quotes, compare them the same way: feet, rate per foot, downspouts listed. If a quote arrives as one lump sum, ask for the footage behind it. The cost page goes further into how a total adds up.

What do guard-and-gutter systems cost next to a cover?

A system that replaces the gutter and adds the guard costs more than a cover, because you are buying new gutter as well. On our list the cover is $18 a foot, and new gutter with a built-in guard is $25 with T-Rex or $30 with DoublePro.

So the real question is whether your gutter has to go. A run that sags, leaks at the seams or has pulled loose will fail under any cover, and we price it as a replacement. A sound run gets the cover, and you keep the difference. On a Manchester house that has seen many decades of weather, we would rather ask than guess, which is why the first call covers the gutter before the guard. The page on new gutters and guards goes deeper into that decision.

Call to install: every step

Three ways to start

  • Call (617) 401-9301. It is answered any hour, and a missed call gets called back.
  • Send the short form on the home page with your street address, and your number lands in your inbox.
  • Text or chat through the chat window on this site.
  1. Understand what you actually need

About fifteen minutes on the phone: the length of the roofline, the number of stories and the trees around the house. The roofline is measured remotely, so nobody comes to the house to sell. You get your price the same day, from the published per-foot rates.

    • Gutters still in good shape: Gutter Clean Pro goes over the gutters you already have, from $18/ft.
    • Gutters that need replacing: new gutters with the guard built in. T-Rex (continuous hanger) from $25/ft, or DoublePro (two filtration layers) from $30/ft.
    • Fascia that cannot be drilled: Hover Pro, quoted for your house.
    • Complex rooflines, third stories and copper are quoted separately, and we say so on the call, never after arrival.
  2. Your plan, in writing

You get a written quote and your StormRail plan: photos of your house, the system, the gutter size and your color choices. The certified installer works from that same plan, so you and the installer are never on different pages.

  3. A deposit capped at one third

Massachusetts law caps a home-improvement deposit at one third of the contract. We hold to that in every state we work in. Your quote names the exact figure before you pay anything.

  4. Material ordered and confirmed

Your Alu-Rex system is ordered through the Alu-Rex distributor and confirmed before an install date is set, so the date you get is one the material can meet.

  5. Scheduled with a certified installer in your county

A certified Alu-Rex installer working in your area takes the job, and you get the date without chasing anyone. In season we're typically booking four to six weeks out. We'd rather tell you that now than promise you Tuesday and send whoever happened to be free. Emergency work — a collapsed run, active water in the basement — gets triaged ahead of the queue.

  6. Installed

The installer fits the system on the plan you already approved. Any balance is due as your quote states.

  7. After the install

We check in after the job is done. Each system carries its own written Alu-Rex warranty:

    • Gutter Clean Pro: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas
    • T-Rex: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance 25-year prorated limited
    • DoublePro: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas

Questions homeowners ask

Is my house too old for a gutter guard?

Age alone does not rule it out. What matters is the gutter and the board it hangs from. If the gutter is sound, Gutter Clean Pro goes on top from $18 a foot. If it is failing, we price new gutter instead and tell you why.

Do I need a permit for gutter guards in Manchester?

The Building Inspection Division's page does not say either way. Ask the division before work starts. Permits go through the town's online portal, and the town has warned that processing may take longer than usual.

Will somebody come to my house to quote?

No one comes to sell. Call (617) 401-9301, and we measure the roofline remotely and give you the price on that call. The first person on your roof is the certified installer, working from your written plan.

How much do I pay up front?

The deposit is capped at one third of the contract. Your written quote names the exact figure before you pay anything.

What happens to the leaves a guard keeps out?

They end up in the yard instead of the gutter. Manchester takes leaves free at the Transfer Station year round, and at the Olcott Street site from October 11 to December 31.

Do you install gutter covers, gutter screens or leaf guards in Manchester?

Yes. Gutter covers, gutter screens, leaf guards and gutter guards are names for the same job: keeping leaves and needles out of the gutter. In Manchester we install Alu-Rex Gutter Clean Pro over sound gutters from $18 a foot, or a new seamless gutter with T-Rex from $25 or DoublePro from $30.
