What DoublePro actually is
DoublePro combines a continuous aluminum hanger with a two-layer perforated guard. The hanger supports a new gutter along its length instead of leaving long stretches between separate brackets. The two offset filtration layers are designed to admit water while keeping leaves, pine needles, seeds and other debris out of the gutter channel. This is an integrated new-gutter system. If the existing gutter is in good condition and the goal is only to add protection, ask about Gutter Clean Pro as the retrofit choice instead of assuming that DoublePro is a cover to lay on the old run.
The installation starts with the gutter itself: its size, pitch, outlet locations, corner geometry and attachment surface. The guard is part of that assembly. It does not repair rotten fascia, clear a blocked drain below grade or turn a poorly placed downspout into a working discharge point. Those details still decide whether water ends up safely away from a home's siding and foundation. We ask about them before giving a total, even when the per-foot system rate is already published.
Alu-Rex describes the system as dual-action protection and publishes its own test results for drainage and structural loading. Those numbers represent the manufacturer's testing, not an on-site guarantee for a roof with an unknown slope, valley, opening or access condition. The practical value of the design is that it tackles two different stresses at once: fine debris reaching the gutter and load applied along a long run in winter. A proper installation remains essential to both.
- Continuous support along the new gutter run.
- Two offset perforated aluminum layers filter fine debris.
- A 5-inch or 6-inch gutter and a separately measured downspout plan.
The price, including what changes it
StormRail publishes DoublePro at $30 per foot installed with a 5-inch gutter, or $34 per foot with a 6-inch gutter. That system rate includes the new gutter, the integrated Alu-Rex guard and installation along the measured gutter run. A quote must still count all the relevant feet. The horizontal gutter footage is not the same as the vertical and angled footage in the downspouts. The downspout rate is $14 per foot for the smaller size or $16 per foot for 6-inch work, with elbows inside that rate. Where existing gutters must come off, removal and disposal add $1 per foot of removed run.
A two-story house may have a short roofline and long downspouts. A ranch may have long, straightforward eaves and short drops. Quoting both only from the roof perimeter would conceal a real labor and material cost. It would also make the advertised rate difficult to trust when the final number changes. We show these as separate measurements so you can see why two houses with the same gutter footage may have different totals.
Aerial measurements help start a conversation quickly, but they cannot establish whether fascia is sound, whether a porch adds a separate roofline, what is behind a tree canopy or whether a ladder can safely reach a steep side yard. We clarify the scope before booking. If site conditions require a change, the reason and price should be agreed before extra work begins. The published rate is a useful starting number because it rules out a mysterious sales presentation; it is not a claim that every house has the same installation difficulty.
- 5-inch DoublePro gutter system: $30/ft installed.
- 6-inch DoublePro gutter system: $34/ft installed.
- Downspouts and removal: priced by their own measured footage.
Pine needles and hard rain are separate problems
Pine needles are narrow enough to challenge many single-surface covers. They can reach openings, catch crosswise, or form a mat with small leaves and seed pods. DoublePro's offset layers are engineered for this type of fine debris. The written manufacturer warranty includes clog performance in coniferous areas, subject to its terms. That is a meaningful distinction for a roof under pines, especially where cleaning the inside of high gutters has been a recurring chore.
A downpour introduces a different question: can the incoming sheet of water enter the guard at the point where the roof delivers it? Roof valleys focus a lot of rain into a short span. Alu-Rex describes a suction effect from the two membranes and a front profile that helps direct water into the gutter. Even with that design, a correctly chosen outlet and a clear downspout are part of the water path. If a clean gutter spills only below one valley, show us that exact spot. The answer may include a placement or drainage adjustment rather than more filtration alone.
Debris can still sit on top of a covered gutter until wind moves it or someone removes it. A clog-free performance warranty is not a promise that every visible surface stays spotless. Heavy snow accumulation also needs judgment around the roof edge. We distinguish what the product keeps out of the channel, what the installer controls and what ordinary upkeep can still involve. That distinction is easier to discuss before installation than after the first autumn storm.
Read the exact warranty, not a blended slogan
The DoublePro manufacturer warranty lists lifetime limited coverage for manufacturing, sturdiness and clog performance, including coniferous areas. The precise exclusions, conditions and registration steps are in the written document. Our Alu-Rex systems page links the manufacturer's warranty and installation materials so you can inspect the actual terms. T-Rex carries a different clog-performance term, set out below; Gutter Clean Pro's retrofit sheet has its own coniferous-area clause and no sturdiness line.
T-Rex carries its own terms: lifetime limited manufacturing and sturdiness coverage, with a 25-year prorated limited performance line. Gutter Clean Pro is a different retrofit product with a separate warranty document and no separately listed sturdiness coverage. These products have different jobs. A quote should name the exact model, size and work being installed so the warranty sheet you read is the one that applies to your house.
StormRail is independent of Alu-Rex; the installation itself is done by a certified Alu-Rex contractor. We do not manufacture DoublePro and do not claim that other local certified contractors are excluded. Product performance statements are drawn from Alu-Rex materials. The actual work is done by an installer, and the final scope should spell out what is being replaced, where the downspouts go and how any existing problems will be handled. That is the useful proof behind a warranty headline.
Is this the right system for your house?
DoublePro is worth considering when the existing gutters need replacement and fine debris is a real issue: pines over an eave, seed pods that repeatedly enter the channel, or a roofline where a durable continuous hanger matters. The $30 per-foot starting rate for 5-inch gutters gives you a way to decide whether that solution is in range before spending time on the phone. A 6-inch system starts at $34 per foot when the roof and drainage plan call for the wider gutter.
It is not automatically the right purchase for a sound gutter that only needs a guard. Gutter Clean Pro starts at $18 per foot for compatible existing 5-inch gutters. Nor does every roof with a few leaves require a second filtration layer. T-Rex starts at $25 per foot for new 5-inch gutters and may be a sound fit when the primary need is a supported new gutter with less fine debris pressure. We compare the products by gutter condition and what actually falls onto the roof, not by a sales ladder that always points upward.
The first call covers the address, stories, surrounding trees, what happens in a hard rain and what the current gutters look like. If you have photos of an overflowing valley, sagging section or the side yard that makes access hard, they help. We can outline the probable work remotely and tell you where a physical inspection is still needed. You get a specific itemized total and installation scope before agreeing to anything. No in-home sales pitch is required to find out whether DoublePro makes sense.
- Replacing gutters under heavy pine or seed cover: compare DoublePro first.
- Sound existing gutters: ask whether a Gutter Clean Pro retrofit is enough.
- Moderate leaf cover with new gutters: compare T-Rex and DoublePro by debris, not just price.
