StormRail installs Alu-Rex Gutter Clean Pro over compatible existing 5-inch gutters from $18/ft, or 6-inch gutters from $20/ft. The existing gutter must be sound, correctly pitched and draining. The manufacturer publishes a separate lifetime limited performance warranty for this retrofit product; read its exact terms. Keep the gutters when they are sound

Gutter Clean Pro is the retrofit option in StormRail's three-system price ladder. It is designed to add Alu-Rex dual-layer protection to compatible gutters already on the house. That can be a better fit than tearing out a working system just to obtain a guard. The word 'compatible' matters: we need to see the gutter's profile, size, slope and condition before treating the advertised rate as the job's final total. A loose, leaking or undersized run is not made sound by covering its top.

Start with a basic observation. When the gutter is clean, does rain move to the downspout without sitting in the run or spilling over the front? Are seams dry, hangers secure and fascia firm? If the answer is yes, a retrofit may address the debris problem without a full replacement. If water still overshoots a clean section, an outlet, roof valley, pitch or discharge problem may be responsible. We would rather identify that on the call than put a new guard over the same failure.

The product uses two layers of aluminum filtration to keep leaves and fine debris out of the channel. Alu-Rex publishes the product design and warranty documents; those claims belong to the manufacturer. A covered gutter still needs an open downspout and a useful place for runoff to go at ground level. If an existing run is currently full of debris, it needs to be cleared and inspected before a retrofit. Hiding old material beneath a new cover is not a completed installation.

  • For compatible existing gutters that are structurally sound.
  • Dual-layer aluminum filtration without automatically replacing the whole run.
  • Existing pitch, outlets, downspouts and fascia must still work.

What the published rate covers

Gutter Clean Pro starts at $18 per foot installed over a compatible existing 5-inch gutter. The 6-inch retrofit starts at $20 per foot. These are guard rates for the measured existing gutter run; they do not include a new gutter or an automatic replacement of downspouts. If a section needs repair, removal or replacement, that is a separate scope to explain before work is authorized. The entry price stays useful because it tells you what adding protection to a sound run starts at.

If an existing downspout needs to be replaced, we measure that vertical and angled footage separately. The published downspout rates are $14 or $16 per foot depending on size, with elbows included in that line. A long drop on a two-story house is not the same amount of work as a short drop on a ranch. If the gutter itself is being replaced, old-system removal is $1 per foot where it applies. Those numbers should be visible on the estimate rather than appearing as an unexplained adjustment after you have chosen a guard.

We can make an initial assessment from the address and your photos of the gutter profile and trouble spots. Remote views do not reveal every seam, soft board or hidden blockage, so an installer may need to confirm suitability. If that inspection shows a full replacement is necessary, we will explain why and compare the new-gutter T-Rex and DoublePro rates. The homeowner decides whether the changed scope makes sense. The advertised retrofit rate is not a commitment to cover a gutter we know is failing.

  • 5-inch compatible existing gutter: $18/ft installed.
  • 6-inch compatible existing gutter: $20/ft installed.
  • Repairs, new downspouts or replacement work require their own scope.

What kind of debris is it solving?

A broad leaf that lands on a roof and dries is different from a pine needle, a seed pod or fine grit. Fine debris is why a homeowner can still find material inside a gutter that appeared to have a cover. Gutter Clean Pro uses a dual-layer filtration design that Alu-Rex positions for fine material and coniferous areas. It gives a sound existing gutter a more protective top without assuming the roof needs a brand-new gutter assembly. The recommendation depends on the trees over the actual roofline and how the water behaves during storms.

Debris can remain on the outer surface until wind clears it, and sheltered corners sometimes need attention. That is different from a blockage inside the gutter. A promise of less cleaning should not be stretched into a claim that no homeowner will ever see a leaf on the roof edge again. The written manufacturer warranty covers specified product performance subject to its conditions. We explain both the benefit and the limits so the first heavy autumn leaf fall does not produce a surprise.

If water runs straight over the front during a downpour while the gutter beneath is empty, look beyond debris. A roof valley can deliver a concentrated sheet to one short section. An outlet may be too small, blocked or poorly placed. A downspout may lead into a clogged buried line. Filtration is one part of a complete water path. We ask where the overflow starts and what happens at the downspout, then decide whether a retrofit, a drainage adjustment or replacement is the responsible recommendation.

The warranty belongs to this retrofit product

The Alu-Rex product catalogue describes Gutter Clean Pro's manufacturing and clog-performance coverage as lifetime limited, including coniferous areas. It does not list a separate sturdiness coverage line for this retrofit model. The exact written warranty controls and should be read alongside the installation requirements. We link the manufacturer's Gutter Clean Pro warranty sheet from our Alu-Rex systems page, rather than quoting a different product's terms because the brands look similar.

T-Rex is a continuous hanger and guard for new gutters, with a separate 25-year prorated limited performance warranty. DoublePro is a different integrated new-gutter system with dual-layer filtration and lifetime limited manufacturing, sturdiness and clog-performance terms. Gutter Clean Pro and DoublePro both list lifetime limited clog-performance coverage that includes coniferous areas; DoublePro's sheet also lists a lifetime limited sturdiness line, which the Gutter Clean Pro sheet does not. On a Gutter Clean Pro quote, ask to see the Gutter Clean Pro document and the exact model being fitted to the existing gutter.

The manufacturer's coverage and an installer's responsibility are separate topics. We should identify who will perform the work, what preparation is included, whether the existing gutters need cleaning first, and what happens if a defect in the old system is discovered. A cover cannot make the old gutter's metal, fasteners or fascia new. Stating that before the job begins is more valuable than making the warranty sound broader than its written terms.

Decide between retrofit and replacement

The strongest case for a retrofit is a gutter that already drains properly and remains securely attached. In that situation, replacing every run can add cost and disturbance without solving an additional problem. Gutter Clean Pro targets debris entry while keeping the existing system. The strongest case for replacement is a gutter with persistent leaks, failed attachment, wrong pitch, inadequate size or fascia that requires repair. In that situation, the guard selection should follow a replacement plan, not precede it.

For a replacement, T-Rex starts at $25 per foot on new 5-inch gutters and DoublePro starts at $30 per foot. Those prices include the new gutter and integrated hanger system, unlike the $18 retrofit starting rate. A comparison that ignores the existing gutter's condition is not comparing equivalent jobs. We will spell out what each option buys and which parts of the current water path remain as they are.

Tell us the address, what the existing gutter does in ordinary and hard rain, what trees are overhead, and whether any section pulls away or leaks. A few clear photos of a gutter corner, outlet and troubled section help. We can explain the likely path on the phone and identify what a certified installer must verify in person before the scope is final. StormRail serves New England through installers and confirms availability for your actual address; it does not claim an office or a completed job in every town. The goal is a defensible number and a system suited to the roof you have.
