Which gutter guard fits my house?
Question 1 of 5
What decides the best gutter guard for a house
There is no single best gutter guard. There is a best guard for what falls on your roof and the gutters it has to sit on. The picker above asks the five things we ask on every call, and each answer changes the recommendation for a reason you can check.
What falls on the roof
Broad leaves from maples and oaks are large and flat; a single perforated aluminum surface keeps them out. Pine needles and seed pods are small enough to slip through coarse openings, which is why DoublePro adds a second, offset layer. With no trees overhead, a guard may not pay for itself, and we say so.
Whether your gutters can stay
Gutters that run straight and do not leak can keep working under a guard. Gutter Clean Pro goes over them from $18 a foot installed. Gutters that sag, leak or pull away from the fascia need replacing first, and then the guard comes built into the new gutter: T-Rex from $25 a foot or DoublePro from $30.
Valleys, stories and gutter size
A roof valley pours the water of two roof planes onto one short run, and a tall roofline sheds more water per run. Both point at the 6-inch size, which carries more than 5-inch. The 5-inch vs 6-inch page has the detail, and downspouts are measured and priced as their own line.
What happens after the picker
The picker gives a per-foot rate. The total depends on your feet of gutter, the downspouts and whether old gutters come down. Send the form and we measure the roofline from aerial imagery and email the number, or call (617) 401-9301 any hour. Nobody comes to the house to sell.
Get a number for your roofline
Tell us the address, gutter condition and surrounding trees. We will work through the footage and the right system with you. The published rate is a starting point; the actual scope and total are confirmed before you authorize work.
