Every system, its own written terms
Every Alu-Rex system carries its own written manufacturer warranty. They are not one blanket warranty with a different label on each product. The coverage periods differ from system to system, and the difference is often the most useful thing to know when you are choosing between them.
Alu-Rex splits each warranty into up to three parts. Manufacturing covers defects in the product itself. Sturdiness covers the structural side: the hanger and the gutter holding up under load. Performance, sometimes called clog performance, covers the guard's job of keeping debris out of the gutter channel. A product can carry a long term on one part and a shorter or prorated term on another, so it pays to read each line rather than the headline.
Below is each system's coverage as the manufacturer lists it. The signed warranty sheet for the product installed on your house is the document that controls; this summary exists so you can compare the systems before you pick one.
- DoublePro: manufacturing lifetime limited · sturdiness lifetime limited · clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas
- T-Rex: manufacturing lifetime limited · sturdiness lifetime limited · clog performance 25-year prorated limited
- Gutter Clean Pro: manufacturing lifetime limited · sturdiness no separate coverage listed · clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas
- Gutter Clean System: manufacturing 25-year limited · sturdiness no separate coverage listed · clog performance 25-year prorated limited
- Hover: manufacturing lifetime limited · sturdiness lifetime limited · clog performance 25-year prorated limited
- Hover Pro: manufacturing lifetime limited · sturdiness lifetime limited · clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas
What the words mean
Lifetime limited means the coverage runs for the life of the product as the warranty sheet defines it, subject to the conditions and exclusions written in that sheet. The word limited matters: it signals that there are conditions, such as correct installation and the uses the product was designed for. Read those conditions in the sheet itself rather than assuming the headline covers everything.
A prorated term means the value of a claim is calculated according to how much of the term has passed. The exact method is set out in the warranty sheet. T-Rex, for example, carries lifetime limited manufacturing and sturdiness coverage with a separate 25-year prorated limited clog-performance term. That is a real warranty, but it is a different promise from a lifetime performance term, and it is worth knowing which one you are buying.
Coverage including coniferous areas means the performance warranty applies to homes under pine and other needle-dropping trees. Pine needles are one of the hardest debris types for a gutter guard because they are fine and they keep dropping well beyond the autumn leaf fall. DoublePro, Gutter Clean Pro and Hover Pro each list lifetime limited performance coverage that includes coniferous areas.
What a guard warranty does not promise
A clog-performance warranty is about the gutter channel staying open. It is not a promise that nothing ever rests on top of the guard. Leaves can sit on the surface in a sheltered corner until wind or rain moves them, and heavy snow and ice are their own New England problem. The warranty sheet describes what counts as the product performing.
A manufacturer's product warranty also does not cover what the product cannot control. A buried drain that collapses, a fascia board that rots behind a sound gutter, or a downspout that empties against the foundation are drainage and structural problems. We raise those conditions before the job is scheduled precisely so they are not mistaken for a product failure later.
Workmanship is a separate question from the manufacturer's product warranty. If you want to know what applies to the installation itself, ask us to put it in writing on your quote, alongside the product and size being installed.
Choosing a system with the warranty in mind
If your gutters are sound and pine needles are the problem, Gutter Clean Pro adds dual-layer protection over the existing run from $18 per foot, and its performance coverage includes coniferous areas. If the gutters need replacing and the trees are pines or heavy seed-droppers, DoublePro installs a new gutter with a continuous hanger and two filtration layers from $30 per foot, with lifetime limited manufacturing, sturdiness and performance coverage.
T-Rex, from $25 per foot with new 5-inch gutters, suits a house that needs new gutters under ordinary leaf fall. Its manufacturing and sturdiness terms are lifetime limited, and its clog-performance term is 25-year prorated. For many homes that is the sensible choice; the point is to choose it knowing the terms rather than assuming every guard carries the same promise.
Hover and Hover Pro use a floating hanger that allows the gutter to expand and contract. They belong in the conversation for specific rooflines, and we confirm whether they suit yours before recommending them.
Keep the paperwork that proves what you have
A warranty is only as useful as your ability to show what was installed and when. Keep the signed quote and the final invoice together. Between them they should name the exact Alu-Rex product, the gutter size, the date of installation and the address. If you sell the house, the next owner will want the same documents.
Photos help as well. A few pictures of each side of the house after the installation, showing the gutters, the downspouts and where they discharge, give you a clear record of the system as it was installed. If you ever need to raise a question, that record is far easier to work from than memory.
Read the warranty sheet's conditions once, soon after the job is done, while the details are fresh. If it asks for anything from you, such as registration or routine checks, you will know about it from the start rather than discovering it when you need to make a claim.
Reading the actual document
Each warranty sheet, brochure and installation guide is published by Alu-Rex. Our Alu-Rex systems page links the manufacturer's documents for every product, so you can read the exact terms before you decide rather than relying on a summary, including this one.
Your quote names the exact product, the size, and the work being done. That is what connects the warranty sheet to your house. If a clause in the sheet is unclear, ask us to point to it on the call and explain what it covers.
StormRail is independent of Alu-Rex, and the installation itself is done by a certified Alu-Rex contractor. Performance statements on this site are drawn from Alu-Rex's own published materials. Call (617) 401-9301 any hour with a warranty question before you commit to anything.
