StormRail installs Alu-Rex gutter guards on Fairfield houses, from Southport to Greenfield Hill. A new seamless gutter with T-Rex is $25/ft and with DoublePro $30/ft; Gutter Clean Pro goes over sound gutters from $18/ft. Call any hour and the price comes on that call. A certified installer who works in Fairfield County does the work you approved in writing.
After Hurricane Sandy, Fairfield's first selectman said the town loses power mostly because trees come down on the lines. Those trees also drop their leaves into Fairfield gutters every fall, and many of the gutters hang on houses built in the 1950s.
Backed by Wood & Wood Seamless Gutters, more than 30 years in the gutter business.
Three systems for a Fairfield house, and what each costs per foot
Start with the gutter you have. Walk outside after a hard rain and look along the eave. If the gutter runs straight, empties at the downspouts and stays dry at the seams, it can carry a guard, and Gutter Clean Pro, a two-layer aluminum guard, fastens on top of it for $18 a foot in 5-inch or $20 in 6-inch. If it sags between hangers, drips at the corners or has pulled away from the fascia, a cover on top will fix none of that.
For a gutter that is finished, we price a new seamless gutter with T-Rex. T-Rex is one long aluminum piece that holds the gutter up along its full length and covers it at the same time, so there is no row of spikes or clips to work loose over the years. On an older house whose gutter hangs from spikes, that change matters as much as the cover. It runs $25 a foot in 5-inch and $29 in 6-inch, gutter included.
DoublePro adds a second, finer perforated layer under the T-Rex top. Pick it when the roof collects small material: pine needles, maple seeds, catkins, the grit that washes off older shingles. DoublePro carries a lifetime clog-free warranty, pine needles included. In 5-inch it is $30 a foot, in 6-inch $34.
Two lines sit apart from the gutter rate. Downspouts are $14 a foot in the standard size and $16 in the larger one, and taking down an old gutter adds $1 a foot. Every caller hears the same numbers, and the pricing page lists them in full.
| System | Pick it when | 5-inch | 6-inch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gutter Clean Pro | Your gutters are straight, tight and draining | $18/ft | $20/ft |
| T-Rex | The gutter sags, leaks or is pulling loose | $25/ft | $29/ft |
| DoublePro | Needles, seeds or shingle grit land on the roof | $30/ft | $34/ft |
What Fairfield's houses, trees and shoreline mean for a gutter
Fairfield grew fast after the Connecticut Turnpike opened in the 1950s, and by the 1960s it was the suburb it is today. The housing shows it. Census estimates count 22,537 housing units, about 77% of them single-family detached, with a median build year of 1960. The 1950s are the biggest single decade, and more than 4,000 units are older than 1940, so about half of all Fairfield housing predates 1960. A typical Fairfield gutter hangs on a house that has seen sixty or more winters of snow and ice on its eave.
The town runs from the Long Island Sound shore up to the Easton and Trumbull lines, with Westport, Weston and Bridgeport on its other sides. Its best-known neighborhoods are Southport, around the harbor, and Greenfield Hill, known for its open land, its famous dogwoods and the white-spired Congregational church on its green. Both became National Register historic districts in 1971. Stratfield, Tunxis Hill, Grasmere, Mill Plain, Knapp's Village and Holland Hill fill in between, and the Fairfield Beach area has seen many new homes go up close to the water.
Trees are the town's own complaint. After Hurricane Sandy in 2012, close to fifteen hundred homes in the devastated beach area were taken off the utility's outage count because they were uninhabitable until inspected. Away from the beach, the worry that week was trees. “We lose power in Fairfield mostly because trees come down on power lines,” First Selectman Michael Tetreau said, adding that the town still had plenty of trees to come down. Each of those trees also sheds into somebody's gutter every fall.
Water runs through town as well. The Mill River, Rooster River, Ash Creek, Sasco Brook and Aspetuck River all flow through Fairfield. Roof water that spills over a clogged gutter lands beside the foundation instead of at the end of a downspout, which is the last place you want it.
For weather, the closest long-record NOAA station is Bridgeport Sikorsky Memorial Airport, about 7 miles east. Its 1991-2020 normals give 44.09 inches of precipitation a year, 33.6 inches of snow, 10.3 days with an inch of rain or more and about 92 nights at or below freezing. Those are Bridgeport numbers, not a Fairfield reading, but they describe the stretch of coast you live on.
If your house sits in the Southport or Greenfield Hill district, ask the town whether exterior work needs a review before anyone starts. We have not read Fairfield's local rules, so we will not guess, and we will plan around what the town tells you.
What does it cost to put gutter guards on a Fairfield house?
Per foot installed: Gutter Clean Pro over sound gutters is $18 in 5-inch and $20 in 6-inch, T-Rex on a new seamless gutter is $25 and $29, and DoublePro is $30 and $34. Downspouts and old-gutter removal show up as their own lines.
Your total comes from three things: how many feet of eave you have, how many stories up the gutter sits, and what grows over the roof. We measure the roof remotely, so you hear the number while you are still on the phone. Nobody comes out to sell. The certified installer arrives with the plan you signed.
The deposit never goes above one third of the contract, and your quote names the exact figure. The balance is due after the install is complete, so you see the finished gutter before you pay the rest.
Will a gutter guard keep up with Fairfield's trees?
Broad leaves are the easy case. They land on the perforated top, dry out and blow off. Small debris is harder, which is why a house under pines or flowering trees often does better with the second layer in DoublePro. Either way, you stop hauling a wet mat of leaves out of the trough each November.
A guard does not make a roof care-free. After a big storm, look at the valleys where two roof planes meet, because debris piles up there first. The guide to cleaning gutters that have guards shows what that upkeep takes.
Do I need new gutters on a 1950s house?
Age alone does not decide it. A 1950s house may already have had its gutter replaced, and a sound newer gutter can take Gutter Clean Pro. What decides it is condition: runs that sag, seams that rust or split, a gutter pulling away from soft fascia.
If you are not sure, describe what you see when you call. The page on whether you need new gutters for guards walks through the signs, and the 5-inch or 6-inch question comes up on most replacements.
Call to install: every step
Three ways to start
- Call (617) 401-9301. It is answered any hour, and a missed call gets called back.
- Send the short form on the home page with your street address, and your number lands in your inbox.
- Text or chat through the chat window on this site.
Understand what you actually need
About fifteen minutes on the phone: the length of the roofline, the number of stories and the trees around the house. The roofline is measured remotely, so nobody comes to the house to sell. You get your price the same day, from the published per-foot rates.
- Gutters still in good shape: Gutter Clean Pro goes over the gutters you already have, from $18/ft.
- Gutters that need replacing: new gutters with the guard built in. T-Rex (continuous hanger) from $25/ft, or DoublePro (two filtration layers) from $30/ft.
- Fascia that cannot be drilled: Hover Pro, quoted for your house.
- Complex rooflines, third stories and copper are quoted separately, and we say so on the call, never after arrival.
Your plan, in writing
You get a written quote and your StormRail plan: photos of your house, the system, the gutter size and your color choices. The certified installer works from that same plan, so you and the installer are never on different pages.
A deposit capped at one third
Massachusetts law caps a home-improvement deposit at one third of the contract. We hold to that in every state we work in. Your quote names the exact figure before you pay anything.
Material ordered and confirmed
Your Alu-Rex system is ordered through the Alu-Rex distributor and confirmed before an install date is set, so the date you get is one the material can meet.
Scheduled with a certified installer in your county
A certified Alu-Rex installer working in your area takes the job, and you get the date without chasing anyone. In season we're typically booking four to six weeks out. We'd rather tell you that now than promise you Tuesday and send whoever happened to be free. Emergency work — a collapsed run, active water in the basement — gets triaged ahead of the queue.
Installed
The installer fits the system on the plan you already approved. Any balance is due as your quote states.
After the install
We check in after the job is done. Each system carries its own written Alu-Rex warranty:
- Gutter Clean Pro: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas
- T-Rex: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance 25-year prorated limited
- DoublePro: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas
Questions homeowners ask
Does a salesperson come to my Fairfield house?
No. The roof is measured remotely and the price is given when you call (617) 401-9301. The next visit is the certified installer, there to do the work you approved in writing.
Do you work in Southport and Greenfield Hill?
Yes, and in Stratfield, Tunxis Hill, Grasmere, Mill Plain and the beach area. The rate per foot is the same in every part of Fairfield.
Should I pick 5-inch or 6-inch gutters?
A larger gutter carries more water per foot, which helps on big roof planes and steep pitches. We will tell you on the call which size your roof needs, and the 6-inch rate is listed beside every 5-inch rate.
Can I keep my gutters and still get a guard?
If they are sound, yes. Gutter Clean Pro fastens over them from 18 a foot. If they sag or leak, a guard on top will not help, and we will price a new seamless gutter with T-Rex instead.
How far out are you booking?
In season, most work is booked four to six weeks out. We confirm the material before we give you a date, so the date holds.
Do you install gutter covers, gutter screens or leaf guards in Fairfield?
Yes. Gutter covers, gutter screens, leaf guards and gutter guards are names for the same job: keeping leaves and needles out of the gutter. In Fairfield we install Alu-Rex Gutter Clean Pro over sound gutters from $18 a foot, or a new seamless gutter with T-Rex from $25 or DoublePro from $30.
