StormRail prices gutter guards for Wethersfield and the rest of Hartford County on the first call, and the line is answered any hour. New gutters with T-Rex cost $25 a foot installed, Gutter Clean Pro over sound gutters $18, and DoublePro $30. You approve one written plan, and a certified installer fits the job from that same plan.

Half the homes in Wethersfield went up between 1940 and 1969, and a lot of their gutters show it. You call once, you hear a price per foot, and nobody sits in your living room to sell you anything.

Picking a system for a Wethersfield house

Two things decide it: the condition of the gutters you have now, and what lands on the roof. We carry three Alu-Rex systems, each priced per foot of gutter with the install included.

T-Rex is the one we raise first on most Wethersfield calls. It replaces the old gutter with a new run on a continuous hanger, and the top of that hanger is perforated, so the part holding the gutter up is also the part keeping leaves out. If your gutters still hang on spikes that have worked loose over the decades, you get new gutters and a leaf cover in one visit. T-Rex costs $25 a foot for 5-inch gutters and $29 for 6-inch.

Gutter Clean Pro is the retrofit. It suits gutters that were replaced recently, still hold their pitch and do not drip at the seams. It fits over them for $18 a foot on 5-inch or $20 on 6-inch, and its two aluminum layers keep out grit as well as leaves. If your gutters are past saving, we say so on the call and price new ones instead.

DoublePro also goes on new gutters and adds a finer perforated layer under the top one. It costs $30 a foot for 5-inch and $34 for 6-inch. We suggest it when needles, seed pods or shingle grit are part of what ends up in your gutters. DoublePro carries a lifetime clog-free warranty, pine needles included.

Downspouts are a separate line, from $14 to $16 a foot depending on size, and taking the old gutters down adds $1 a foot. Your written quote shows each line on its own, and the pricing page lists the same rates every caller hears.

Wethersfield houses, leaves and weather, from the public record

The census puts the median Wethersfield home at 1960. The 1950s alone account for about a quarter of the town's 11,747 housing units, and roughly one in five dates from 1939 or earlier. Nearly three quarters are single-family detached houses, with another 6% single-family attached. That adds up to thousands of separate rooflines, each with its own gutters and its own history of patch repairs.

The Wethersfield Historical Society traces much of that building to post-war subdivisions: Timber Village in the west of town, begun in 1950, five-room ranches in Glenwood Homes, Colonials planned for Pyquag Village in the mid-1960s, more Colonials in Cedar Meadow from 1969, and raised ranches, side-by-side Colonials and L-shaped ranches in Ridge Crest. A plain ranch has long, low eaves that are simple to measure. An L-shaped ranch or a Colonial adds inside corners, where two runs meet and a lot of water arrives at once, so we ask about those.

Old Wethersfield is the other half of the town. The town calls it the largest historic district in Connecticut, with more than 150 structures built before 1850, and Historic Wethersfield counts fifty houses there that are older than the Revolutionary War. Inside the district, which runs from the Hartford line to the Rocky Hill line between the railroad tracks and I-91, any exterior change visible from a street or sidewalk needs a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Historic District Commission. Ordinary repair that keeps the existing design, materials, scale and appearance is exempt. The town FAQ does not mention gutters, so we cannot tell you which side of that line your job falls on. The commission meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of most months, the process takes two weeks to two months, and a certificate lasts a year. If you live in the district, ask the commission first, and we will set the install date around its answer.

Leaves run on a town calendar here. Physical Services collects them curbside in two rounds from November 2 to December 5 this year, from a row on the snow shelf behind the curb, and makes no individual spot pickups. The rounds cover the curb. Whatever lands in your gutters is still yours to get down.

For weather, NOAA's Hartford Brainard Field station records 1991-2020 normals of 42.83 inches of precipitation a year, 10.6 days with an inch or more, and about 121 nights at or below freezing. Bradley, farther north, logs 47.05 inches of precipitation and 51.7 inches of snow. Neither is a Wethersfield reading, but both describe about ten real downpours a year and four months of freeze and thaw. Most guards cope fine with a drizzle. Trouble starts in a downpour. On June 6, 2026, thunderstorms with heavy rain and the potential for gusts over 60 mph left more than 12,000 Connecticut customers without power, and WFSB received a report of a downed tree that nearly hit a Wethersfield home.

What does it cost to add guards to existing gutters in Wethersfield?

Gutter Clean Pro, the cover we fit over sound gutters, is $18 a foot installed for 5-inch and $20 for 6-inch. Multiply by the length of your gutters and you have the core of the quote. If a downspout needs replacing, that is its own line at $14 to $16 a foot.

The catch is the word sound. On a house from the 1950s or 1960s, the gutters may be newer than the house or they may be the second set, and either can be fine. What matters is whether they hold their slope, drain to the outlet and stay tight to the fascia. We ask you to walk the house and tell us what you see, and we look at the roofline from imagery. If the run is failing, a cover would only hide it, and we will price new gutters with T-Rex instead so you are not paying twice.

Which gutter guard brand is best? A Wethersfield answer

We will not rank every brand in the country, because we have not installed every brand in the country. We install Alu-Rex, and we can tell you why. The T-Rex and DoublePro systems replace the usual hangers with a continuous hanger, so the gutter is supported along its whole length instead of at a bracket every couple of feet. That counts for a lot in wet snow or when a limb comes down. The performance figures Alu-Rex publishes are its own test results, and we quote them as theirs, never as ours.

The better question for your house is which design suits your debris. A coarse single screen handles big leaves and lets needles through. A two-layer guard stops needles and grit. The page on whether guards are worth it walks through when a guard pays off and when it does not.

Call to install: every step

Three ways to start

  • Call (617) 401-9301. It is answered any hour, and a missed call gets called back.
  • Send the short form on the home page with your street address, and your number lands in your inbox.
  • Text or chat through the chat window on this site.
  1. Understand what you actually need

About fifteen minutes on the phone: the length of the roofline, the number of stories and the trees around the house. The roofline is measured remotely, so nobody comes to the house to sell. You get your price the same day, from the published per-foot rates.

    • Gutters still in good shape: Gutter Clean Pro goes over the gutters you already have, from $18/ft.
    • Gutters that need replacing: new gutters with the guard built in. T-Rex (continuous hanger) from $25/ft, or DoublePro (two filtration layers) from $30/ft.
    • Fascia that cannot be drilled: Hover Pro, quoted for your house.
    • Complex rooflines, third stories and copper are quoted separately, and we say so on the call, never after arrival.
  2. Your plan, in writing

You get a written quote and your StormRail plan: photos of your house, the system, the gutter size and your color choices. The certified installer works from that same plan, so you and the installer are never on different pages.

  3. A deposit capped at one third

Massachusetts law caps a home-improvement deposit at one third of the contract. We hold to that in every state we work in. Your quote names the exact figure before you pay anything.

  4. Material ordered and confirmed

Your Alu-Rex system is ordered through the Alu-Rex distributor and confirmed before an install date is set, so the date you get is one the material can meet.

  5. Scheduled with a certified installer in your county

A certified Alu-Rex installer working in your area takes the job, and you get the date without chasing anyone. In season we're typically booking four to six weeks out. We'd rather tell you that now than promise you Tuesday and send whoever happened to be free. Emergency work — a collapsed run, active water in the basement — gets triaged ahead of the queue.

  6. Installed

The installer fits the system on the plan you already approved. Any balance is due as your quote states.

  7. After the install

We check in after the job is done. Each system carries its own written Alu-Rex warranty:

    • Gutter Clean Pro: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas
    • T-Rex: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance 25-year prorated limited
    • DoublePro: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas

Questions homeowners ask

Does my house in Old Wethersfield need approval for new gutters?

Possibly. Exterior changes visible from a street or sidewalk need a Certificate of Appropriateness, and like-for-like repair is exempt. The town FAQ does not name gutters, so ask the Historic District Commission before we schedule.

My 1950s ranch still has its old gutters. What do you recommend?

Usually new gutters with T-Rex at $25 a foot for 5-inch. If the old run turns out to be sound, Gutter Clean Pro over it costs less, and we will tell you which one on the call.

Will someone come to the house to measure?

Not to sell. Call (617) 401-9301 and we measure the roofline remotely while you are on the phone. The certified installer comes out to do the work, from the written plan you approved.

How much do I pay up front?

The deposit is capped at one third of the contract, and your written quote names the exact figure before you pay anything.

Does the town's leaf pickup take gutter debris?

The town collects leaves from a row on the snow shelf behind the curb in its fall rounds. Getting the leaves out of the gutters and down to the curb is up to you.

Do you install gutter covers, gutter screens or leaf guards in Wethersfield?

Yes. Gutter covers, gutter screens, leaf guards and gutter guards are names for the same job: keeping leaves and needles out of the gutter. In Wethersfield we install Alu-Rex Gutter Clean Pro over sound gutters from $18 a foot, or a new seamless gutter with T-Rex from $25 or DoublePro from $30.
