StormRail gives Sandwich homeowners a per-foot price on the first call. If your gutters are sound, Gutter Clean Pro goes over them from $18/ft. If they are worn out, a new seamless gutter with T-Rex starts at $25/ft and with DoublePro at $30/ft. A certified installer working on the Cape fits it from the written plan you approved.
Sandwich is the oldest town on Cape Cod, but most of its houses are younger than they look: the median one dates from 1982. Many still have gutters worth keeping, and under the town's pines and oaks a guard is what keeps them working.

Keep the gutter or replace it: the Sandwich price list
Every Sandwich quote starts with one question: is the gutter on the house worth keeping? It is the question that saves you the most money, so we ask it before anything else. A gutter worth keeping runs straight from end to end, does not drip at the seams or corners, and sends the water into the downspouts instead of over the front.
If yours passes, Gutter Clean Pro goes on top of it. It is a guard made for gutters already on the house, and it keeps leaves, twigs and the bulk of the debris out of the trough. It costs $18 a foot over 5-inch gutter and $20 a foot over 6-inch. You keep the gutter you paid for and stop climbing a ladder to clean it.
If it fails, buy the gutter and the guard as one. T-Rex is a new seamless gutter carried on a continuous aluminum hanger that is also the guard, so the gutter is supported along its whole length instead of hanging from spikes. It is $25 a foot in 5-inch and $29 in 6-inch.
Where pines lean over the roof, look at DoublePro. It is T-Rex with a second, finer perforated layer that stops pine needles and grit. DoublePro carries a lifetime clog-free warranty, pine needles included. It is $30 a foot in 5-inch and $34 in 6-inch.
Downspouts are their own line, at $14 a foot for the standard size and $16 for the larger. If an old gutter has to come off first, removal is $1 a foot. The pricing page carries every rate.
| Your gutter today | What we suggest | 5-inch | 6-inch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Straight, dry and draining | Gutter Clean Pro on top | $18/ft | $20/ft |
| Sagging, leaking or pulling away | New gutter with T-Rex | $25/ft | $29/ft |
| Worn out, under pines | New gutter with DoublePro | $30/ft | $34/ft |
The oldest town on the Cape, and what that means for a roofline
Sandwich sits at the start of the Cape. Cape Cod Bay is on the north, Barnstable on the east, Mashpee and Falmouth on the south, and Bourne on the west. The Cape Cod Canal meets the bay here. The town has three post offices, for Sandwich village, East Sandwich and Forestdale.
It is old. Settlers arrived in 1637 and the town was incorporated in 1639, which makes Sandwich the oldest town on Cape Cod, together with Yarmouth. Hoxie House, in Sandwich, is considered the oldest house on the Cape. But the age of the town is not the age of the housing. Census estimates count 10,052 housing units, and about 91% of them, 9,165, are detached single-family. The median one was built in 1982. The 1980s are the biggest building decade, with 2,988 units, followed by the 1970s with 1,849 and the 1990s with 1,542. Just 820 units date from before 1940.
So most Sandwich houses are 30 to 55 years old. A gutter that old is at the age where some are still good and some are done. That is why this page leads with the cheaper option: if your gutter is sound, guarding it is the best value, and we will tell you on the call if it is not.
Away from the shore, Sandwich is ponds, hills and forest, mostly pine and oak, including the Shawme-Crowell State Forest. On a wooded lot the gutters fill every fall, and the pines keep dropping needles after the leaves are down.
Storms here come off the bay. The town's boardwalk, 1,350 feet long and first built in 1875, was almost completely destroyed by Hurricane Bob in 1991 and rebuilt the next year. In the nor'easter of October 27, 2021, Sandwich public works crews brought in an excavator to clear a large fallen tree blocking Moody Drive while they worked to keep roads open at the height of the storm.
Most guards cope fine with a drizzle. Trouble starts in a downpour. The nearest long-record NOAA station is at Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis, in the town next door. Its 1991-2020 normals show 44.70 inches of precipitation a year, about 11 days with an inch of rain or more, and about 108 nights at or below freezing. Those are the airport's figures, not a Sandwich measurement.
Sandwich is the western end of the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District, which covers the land north of Route 6 from Sandwich to Orleans and dates from 1973. If your house is in it, exterior work may need a district committee's sign-off. We have not read the Sandwich committee's rules, so ask the town before work starts, and we will plan around the answer.
What do gutter guards cost in Sandwich?
Per foot, installed: Gutter Clean Pro over a sound gutter is $18 in 5-inch and $20 in 6-inch. A new gutter with T-Rex is $25 and $29, and with DoublePro it is $30 and $34. Downspouts and removal are listed on their own.
Your total comes from the feet of eave, the number of stories and how many downspouts the house needs. We measure the roofline remotely and give you the figure on the call. No one comes out to sell you on it.
Can I put gutter guards on my existing gutters?
Yes, if the gutters are in good shape. Gutter Clean Pro is made to go over a gutter already on the house. Check yours after a heavy rain. Water should leave through the downspouts, the seams should stay dry, and the run should not dip in the middle.
If water pours over the front or a section has pulled off the fascia, a guard will not fix that, and putting one on only adds weight to a failing gutter. Then the better buy is a new gutter with T-Rex or DoublePro. The page on whether you need new gutters for guards walks through the signs.
Do gutter guards cause ice dams?
A guard does not make an ice dam. Ice dams form when heat from the house melts snow on the roof and the water freezes again at the cold eave. A gutter packed with wet leaves can make that worse, because the water has nowhere to go.
A clean gutter under a guard drains when it can. The fix for the dam itself is in the attic: insulation and ventilation. The ice dam question page explains more.
Call to install: every step
Three ways to start
- Call (617) 401-9301. It is answered any hour, and a missed call gets called back.
- Send the short form on the home page with your street address, and your number lands in your inbox.
- Text or chat through the chat window on this site.
Understand what you actually need
About fifteen minutes on the phone: the length of the roofline, the number of stories and the trees around the house. The roofline is measured remotely, so nobody comes to the house to sell. You get your price the same day, from the published per-foot rates.
- Gutters still in good shape: Gutter Clean Pro goes over the gutters you already have, from $18/ft.
- Gutters that need replacing: new gutters with the guard built in. T-Rex (continuous hanger) from $25/ft, or DoublePro (two filtration layers) from $30/ft.
- Fascia that cannot be drilled: Hover Pro, quoted for your house.
- Complex rooflines, third stories and copper are quoted separately, and we say so on the call, never after arrival.
Your plan, in writing
You get a written quote and your StormRail plan: photos of your house, the system, the gutter size and your color choices. The certified installer works from that same plan, so you and the installer are never on different pages.
A deposit capped at one third
Massachusetts law caps a home-improvement deposit at one third of the contract. We hold to that in every state we work in. Your quote names the exact figure before you pay anything.
Material ordered and confirmed
Your Alu-Rex system is ordered through the Alu-Rex distributor and confirmed before an install date is set, so the date you get is one the material can meet.
Scheduled with a certified installer in your county
A certified Alu-Rex installer working in your area takes the job, and you get the date without chasing anyone. In season we're typically booking four to six weeks out. We'd rather tell you that now than promise you Tuesday and send whoever happened to be free. Emergency work — a collapsed run, active water in the basement — gets triaged ahead of the queue.
Installed
The installer fits the system on the plan you already approved. Any balance is due as your quote states.
After the install
We check in after the job is done. Each system carries its own written Alu-Rex warranty:
- Gutter Clean Pro: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas
- T-Rex: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance 25-year prorated limited
- DoublePro: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas
Questions homeowners ask
Why does this page lead with Gutter Clean Pro?
Because most Sandwich houses date from the 1970s to the 1990s, and many of their gutters are still sound. Guarding a good gutter costs less than replacing it. If yours is not good, we will say so.
Will a salesperson come to my house in Sandwich?
No. Call (617) 401-9301. We measure the roof remotely and price it on that call, and the certified installer comes to fit what you approved in writing, not to sell.
Do you work in East Sandwich and Forestdale?
Yes. The per-foot rate is the same in Sandwich village, East Sandwich and Forestdale.
My house is north of Route 6. Do I need approval?
It may be inside the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District. We have not read the Sandwich committee's rules, so ask the town before any exterior work starts.
Which guard is best under pine trees?
DoublePro, because its fine second layer stops needles. It comes with a new gutter. DoublePro's lifetime clog-free warranty includes pine needles.
Do you install gutter covers, gutter screens or leaf guards in Sandwich?
Yes. Gutter covers, gutter screens, leaf guards and gutter guards are names for the same job: keeping leaves and needles out of the gutter. In Sandwich we install Alu-Rex Gutter Clean Pro over sound gutters from $18 a foot, or a new seamless gutter with T-Rex from $25 or DoublePro from $30.
