StormRail prices gutter guards for Hebron and the rest of Tolland County by the foot: Gutter Clean Pro over sound gutters from $18, new gutters with T-Rex from $25, and DoublePro from $30. Call any hour and you get a price the same day. A certified installer does the work from the written plan you signed off on.

Most Hebron houses went up between 1970 and 1999, on lots carved from woodland and field. After that many autumns, the gutters are usually the part of the house that needs a decision.

Picking a system for a Hebron house

Start with the gutters you already have. If they hang straight, carry water to the downspouts and do not drip at the joints, Gutter Clean Pro can go right on top of them. It is a two-layer aluminum guard, and it runs $18 a foot on 5-inch gutters and $20 on 6-inch, installed. You keep your gutters and pay for the guard and the labor.

If the gutters are pulling off the fascia, leaking at the corners or bent from years of ice, a guard on top buys you nothing. That job is new gutters with the guard built in. T-Rex combines a continuous hanger and a perforated cover in one rail, from $25 a foot for 5-inch and $29 for 6-inch. DoublePro adds a second, finer aluminum layer under the first, from $30 for 5-inch and $34 for 6-inch.

The debris decides the rest. Broad leaves land on a perforated cover and blow off once they dry. Needles, seed pods and shingle grit are small enough to find the holes, and a second layer is what stops them. If conifers hang over your roof, ask about DoublePro, which carries a lifetime clog-free warranty with pine needles included. The other two systems carry their own written coverage, and the warranty page lists each one in the manufacturer's words.

Downspouts are their own line: $14 a foot, or $16 on a 6-inch system, elbows included. Taking the old gutters down adds $1 a foot when a job needs it. Your written quote shows every line before you pay anything, and the deposit is capped at one third of the job. The full rate card sits on the pricing page.

Hebron houses, hills and storms

Hebron is a town of detached houses. Census estimates count about 88% of its housing units as one-unit detached homes, and about 60% went up between 1970 and 1999; only about 4% predate 1940. The town's 2024 Plan of Conservation and Development shows the growth behind that: 465 housing units in 1960, 3,618 by 2020. If your gutters are original to a house from those decades, they have been through a lot of winters, and their condition is the first thing we ask about.

The same plan describes the land as mostly rolling hills, from 204 to 772 feet, with woodland, open fields, marsh and the streams of the Salmon River basin. Town and state open space make up 22.6% of Hebron. Woods near a roofline mean leaves in the gutter every fall. CT DEEP also records a spongy moth outbreak across eastern Connecticut after the 2015-2016 drought, with heavy oak losses into 2018. That is a regional record, not a Hebron count, but dead limbs over a roof are worth pointing out on the call.

Storms are the other part. The town's 2024 hazard mitigation annex puts hurricanes and tropical storms first for estimated average yearly losses under FEMA's National Risk Index, ahead of tornadoes and high wind, then winter storms. Those are modelled estimates, not a damage tally. The annex also notes outages in the 2020 and 2021 storms and suggests more tree trimming, and in November 2011 the Board of Selectmen heard that three percent of Hebron was still without power after the recent storms. Most guards cope fine with a drizzle. Trouble starts in a downpour, when water and loose leaves reach the gutter at the same moment.

Two paperwork notes. The Hebron Center Historic District, listed on the National Register in 1993, holds 60 contributing buildings, mostly Federal and Greek Revival; if your house is one of them, say so and we will plan around it. For permits, the Building Department takes applications online through ViewPoint. Its published exemption sheet exempts roof-covering and siding repairs up to 25 percent in one calendar year and does not list gutters, so ask the building official before assuming a gutter job is exempt.

What would guards cost on a 2,000 sq ft Hebron house?

Floor area does not set the price. The length of the eaves does. A single-story house spreads its 2,000 square feet under a long roofline, while a two-story house with the same floor area has a shorter run of gutter and longer downspouts. Two houses on the same Hebron road can land far apart for that reason alone.

The math itself is simple. Multiply the feet of gutter by the rate for the system: $18 for Gutter Clean Pro over sound 5-inch gutters, $25 for new gutters with T-Rex, $30 for DoublePro. Add downspout footage at $14 a foot, and removal at $1 a foot if the old gutters come down. We measure the roofline remotely before the call ends, so you hear a real number from a real measurement. The cost question page walks through the same arithmetic.

The drawbacks of gutter guards on a wooded lot

First, price. A guard costs more than bare gutters, and a house with no trees nearby may never earn that back. We will say so if yours is one of them.

Second, a guard reduces cleaning without ending it. Dry leaves blow off a perforated top, but wet ones can sit there until they dry, and a guard cannot fix a gutter pitched the wrong way or a downspout crushed at the bottom.

Third, a mismatch. A single perforated layer under trees that drop needles lets the fine stuff through, and a gutter full of needles under a cover is harder to clean than an open one. On a Hebron lot backing onto woods, the right choice depends on which trees stand closest to the roof, so we ask about them before we suggest a system. The page on whether guards are worth it covers the trade-off in more detail.

Which type of gutter guard holds up best in Hebron?

The one matched to your debris and your gutters. A fine two-layer guard stops more than a single screen, but it only belongs on gutters that can carry it. Put a good guard on a sagging run and you have paid for two problems.

So we work through it in order. Are the gutters sound? If yes, Gutter Clean Pro keeps them. If no, the choice is between T-Rex and DoublePro, and what falls on the roof settles it: mostly leaves points one way, needles and seed pods the other. Every system we install is aluminum from Alu-Rex, fitted by a certified installer, and the written plan names the system, the gutter size and the color before anyone picks up a tool.

Call to install: every step

Three ways to start

  • Call (617) 401-9301. It is answered any hour, and a missed call gets called back.
  • Send the short form on the home page with your street address, and your number lands in your inbox.
  • Text or chat through the chat window on this site.
  1. Understand what you actually need

About fifteen minutes on the phone: the length of the roofline, the number of stories and the trees around the house. The roofline is measured remotely, so nobody comes to the house to sell. You get your price the same day, from the published per-foot rates.

    • Gutters still in good shape: Gutter Clean Pro goes over the gutters you already have, from $18/ft.
    • Gutters that need replacing: new gutters with the guard built in. T-Rex (continuous hanger) from $25/ft, or DoublePro (two filtration layers) from $30/ft.
    • Fascia that cannot be drilled: Hover Pro, quoted for your house.
    • Complex rooflines, third stories and copper are quoted separately, and we say so on the call, never after arrival.
  2. Your plan, in writing

You get a written quote and your StormRail plan: photos of your house, the system, the gutter size and your color choices. The certified installer works from that same plan, so you and the installer are never on different pages.

  3. A deposit capped at one third

Massachusetts law caps a home-improvement deposit at one third of the contract. We hold to that in every state we work in. Your quote names the exact figure before you pay anything.

  4. Material ordered and confirmed

Your Alu-Rex system is ordered through the Alu-Rex distributor and confirmed before an install date is set, so the date you get is one the material can meet.

  5. Scheduled with a certified installer in your county

A certified Alu-Rex installer working in your area takes the job, and you get the date without chasing anyone. In season we're typically booking four to six weeks out. We'd rather tell you that now than promise you Tuesday and send whoever happened to be free. Emergency work — a collapsed run, active water in the basement — gets triaged ahead of the queue.

  6. Installed

The installer fits the system on the plan you already approved. Any balance is due as your quote states.

  7. After the install

We check in after the job is done. Each system carries its own written Alu-Rex warranty:

    • Gutter Clean Pro: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas
    • T-Rex: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance 25-year prorated limited
    • DoublePro: manufacturing lifetime limited, clog performance lifetime limited, including coniferous areas

Questions homeowners ask

Does anyone need to visit my Hebron house to price it?

No. Call (617) 401-9301, and we measure the roofline remotely and give you the price on that call. The certified installer comes out to do the work you approved.

Do gutter guards need a permit in Hebron?

The town's published exemption sheet covers small roof-covering and siding repairs and does not list gutters. Ask Hebron's building official before work starts rather than assuming either way.

My house is in Hebron Center. Does that change the job?

It can. The Hebron Center Historic District is on the National Register. Tell us on the call, check with the town, and we will write the plan around what it asks for.

Can guards go on the gutters I already have?

If they are sound, yes. Gutter Clean Pro fits over existing gutters from $18 a foot. If they sag or leak, we will tell you and price new gutters instead.

How much do I pay up front?

The deposit is capped at one third of the job, and your written quote names the exact figure before you pay anything. The balance is due as the quote states.

Do you install gutter covers, gutter screens or leaf guards in Hebron?

Yes. Gutter covers, gutter screens, leaf guards and gutter guards are names for the same job: keeping leaves and needles out of the gutter. In Hebron we install Alu-Rex Gutter Clean Pro over sound gutters from $18 a foot, or a new seamless gutter with T-Rex from $25 or DoublePro from $30.
